Synology has unveiled the DiskStation DS925+, a 4-bay NAS solution aimed at professionals and enterprises needing compact, scalable, and high-performance storage.
The DS925+ builds on the legacy of Synology’s 4-bay Plus Series, which has surpassed one million installations. According to Jeffrey Huang, Product Manager at Synology, the new model is designed to meet the needs of both professional users and enterprises deploying edge servers in remote and branch offices.
Equipped with dual 2.5GbE ports and two M.2 NVMe slots, the DS925+ delivers major performance gains over its predecessor, including 149% faster SMB downloads and 150% faster uploads. Read and write speeds have also seen improvements of 131% and 150%, respectively, under preconfigured settings.
Scalability is a key highlight of the new system. When paired with the new DX525 expansion unit, the DS925+ supports up to nine drive bays and offers up to 180 TB of raw storage capacity, allowing businesses to easily expand as their data demands grow. Although it might a hassle to use only validated hard drives for DSM installation, it is to ensure full drive compatibility as well as the over 7K hours of dependability test.
Speaking of DiskStation Manager (DSM) platform, it continues to offer what it does – from Synology Drive enabling private cloud capabilities with cross-platform file access and syncing to Active Backup Suite providing data protection for endpoints, virtual machines, and cloud accounts. Surveillance Station expands the system’s utility into security, offering real-time video analytics and scalable management.
Availability
The DS925+ and the DX525 expansion unit will be available globally starting April 23, 2025.
