HP Malaysia has officially unveiled its new Transformation Center to continue its advance in manufacturing innovation.
This new Transformation Center spans 4,639 square feet and contains dedicated spaces for researching and testing cutting-edge Industry 4.0 technologies, including robotics, automation, Industrial IoT, additive manufacturing, and predictive analytics. Additionally, it explores the early integration of Industry 5.0 concepts to come up with a fully digitized, efficient, and agile manufacturing ecosystem by leveraging these technologies to enhance productivity and quality. These initiatives highlight HP’s role as a leader in advanced manufacturing, ensuring its capability to meet the global print supplies market’s evolving demands while fostering sustainable innovation.
Since its inception in 2016, HP Malaysia Manufacturing (HPMM) has evolved into a premier manufacturing hub, employing 1,200 skilled Malaysian professionals. HPMM is a key contributor to HP’s global operations, producing and distributing inkjet cartridges to 175 countries and solidifying its reputation as one of the largest manufacturers of Micro Electrical Mechanical Systems (MEMS) globally.
The brand’s manufacturing approach aligns closely with Malaysia’s aspirations for industrial growth. Through the HP SPARK Programme, launched in 2024, the company collaborates with the Malaysian government and local educational institutions to develop a skilled workforce capable of thriving in advanced manufacturing environments. The program emphasizes expertise in robotics, automation, data analytics, and sustainable manufacturing, preparing HPMM’s workforce for the ever-evolving landscape of modern manufacturing.
Sustainability is also deeply committed to various ESGs including achieving carbon neutrality, zero waste operations, and a 75% reduction in single-use plastics by 2025 to further emphasize its dedication to environmental stewardship as well as aligning its operations with Malaysia’s “Roadmap Towards Zero Single-Use Plastics 2018–2030” and other national environmental policies.
Hence, they have made significant strides through the following achievements:
- Its facility features a solar photovoltaic system installed on rooftops and parking areas, which generates 2,720 MWh annually, covering approximately 6% of its electricity needs and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
- The Zero Waste Operations Team diverts around 35,000 kg of waste from landfills every year.
- HPMM achieved a Platinum-level score in the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Validated Assessment Program (VAP) audit, demonstrating its commitment to labor standards, health and safety, and environmental compliance.
By integrating advanced technologies, fostering a skilled workforce, and prioritizing sustainability, HPMM exemplifies HP’s vision of manufacturing excellence, ensuring its position as a global leader in the industry.
