Another day, another case of a Steam account getting banned by Valve, but this time around, it was because of a “scammer got scammed” situation.
Also with this we just got our first confirmation straight from Valve that buying/selling scammed items will get you banned on Steam.

According to ‘olafkswg’ on X, the account going by the display name of ‘胖胖King’ has been sniped by the hitman of Steam Support due to the guy doing transactions involving scammed items, and one could be banned from the platform if the track record shows that a given account has been buying or selling illegally obtained assets.
And what has been lost? Over US$1M of total value, mostly revolving around Counter Strike stuff such as rare collection of knives, gun skins, and most importantly, Katowice 2014 holographic stickers of pro teams such as Titan and iBuyPower. And yes, those stickers roughly make up that one million from the get-go.
Despite Steam just releasing the Trade Protection feature not long ago, it seems that the effect of it is not as widespread as one might think. Even if the “scammer got scammed” situation is a “chaos vs chaos” thing in nature, the ruthless yet fair banhammer of GabeN will bonk just anyone violating its ToS.
